Episode 101: Red Wine and Vodka Marinara Sauces

Sue takes basic store bought tomato sauce and doctors it up to make both a Red Wine and Vodka Marinara Sauce.

Recipe:

Marinara Sauce

  • 2 32 ounce jars of pre-made Marinara sauce
  • 1-2 Tbs oregano
  • 1-2 Tbs basil
  • 1/2-1 Tbs sugar
  • 1/2 Tbs red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 Tbs salt
  • 1/2 cup of red wine
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic

Take one large crock pot, place both jars marinara in crock pot. Take the herbs in your hands and rub them together between hands to release oils, then place them in sauce. Squeeze garlic through a garlic press and add to sauce, then mix in the rest of the ingredients. Plug crock pot in and let cook on low for 6-8 hours.

Optional Meat Sauce in Episode 103

Vodka Marinara Sauce

  • 1 32 ounce jar of pre-made Marinara sauce
  • 1/2 Tbs of oregano
  • 1/2 Tbs basil
  • 1/2- 1 ts sugar
  • 1/4 ts salt
  • 1/4- 1/2 cup Vodka
  • 3 crushed cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 cup of cream

Take one large crock pot, place jar of marinara in crock pot. Take the herbs in your hands and rub them together between hands to release oils, then place them in sauce. Squeeze garlic through a garlic press and add to sauce, then mix in the rest of the ingredients Plug crock pot in and let cook on low for 6-8 hours.

*Optional to add cream at end instead of beginning of cook time

*When making pasta always make sure the water is boiling and add salt before putting pasta in.
